Marriage:

Americans intending to come to France to marry, and to take up residence in France for a period exceeding three months, must apply for a long-stay visa for marriage (visa de long séjour pour mariage.) U.S. citizens, tourists in France, may also marry in France, provided they comply with French law. At least one party to the marriage must reside in France for forty days preceding the date of the civil ceremony (30 days of residence plus 10 days for publication of the banns.)
